iZip gives you the possibility of managing Zip archives without any difficulties. You can create new archives, unpack existing ones, encrypt and share them and more. The application's key aspect is the fact that it makes managing archives on a Mac much easier and more comfortable. What's more, iZip is freeware, so you can enjoy its functionality for as long as you want, without paying for anything.

The application provides a clean and simple user interface, with a few controls that are easy to spot and use. Archives can be opened by adding them to a list, on the same interface, through a standard Open dialog or by dragging and dropping the files. When you load an archive, the application will mount it as a removable drive, which gives you the possibility of extracting the contents of a Zip archive selectively. You should also know that iZip is compatible with other archive formats as well, including RAR, TAR and 7ZIP.

New archives can be created by following a wizard's instructions. Targeting files and folders is sufficient for creating an archive, so you can ignore the rest of the options presented by the wizard, because you can find them on the main interface as well, so you can use them at a later date. These options allow you to enable extra compression, to encrypt the archive and to upload and share the archive. iZip is capable of protecting archives, using an AES 128, 192 or 256-bit encryption protocol.

Pros

You can create and extract archives on the fly. The application gives you the possibility of extracting Zip archives selectively. Its controls are well organized and easy to understand.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. When it comes to managing archives on a Mac, iZip gives you more freedom and flexibility.
